So... as much as I would like this to be a purely cannon thing I have the distinct feeling I'll get a much better response if I allow this to incorporate OCs in addition to the fact that, at the moment, I don't think there is anyone else here who is all that familiar with my favorite part of the Pokemon franchise.

So let's begin the discussing: I figured the Pokemon World Tournament would be a good setting since it would allow us a way to incorporate almost all of the regions at once and it also gives a "global audience" to whatever kind of threat we're going to be facing, but it's just a suggestion. If anyone has a better idea I am more than willing to listen!

I am totally up for a pokemon RP! I was about to make a discussion for one, but I wasn't sure if I wanted it be cannon or fannon. So we can focus on one region, but have our characters from any of the regions? Or is it a tournament that is for people from all regions?

Technically, it'll take place in Unova since that's where the World Tournament is located in Black2 and White2, but since it is a WORLD tournament the idea is that our characters can come from anywhere.

Oh that! I thought you were talking about having a tournament that celebrates all the region leagues.

Well... we could define it that way, but I was referring to the actual "World Tournament".   

But again, it doesn't have to be that. I just figured it would be the best way to have all the regions gather and then have some kind of threat arise to ruin everything.

I am totally for what you have planned. I just forgot that the World Tournament was an actual thing.

Alright, then. I actually kinda like the idea of using Team Snaggem and the Shadow Pokemon since it'll be a threat that no one from any of the "normal" regions should have seen or dealt with so it'll be something new.

And.... I already know that I want to use characters from the Pokemon Adventures/Special manga, so... yeah. I'm all set with that, other than picking which of them I want to use.

Is it okay if I claim White/Touko? I also would like to throw in a fan character.

If you're treating her like an OC in terms of the team and such and just using the appearance of the female playable character from the first Black and White games, then you may use her but I would prefer you call her "Touko" or "Hilda" since.... "White" has a Manga counterpart....

I think I might be going with the Kanto Pokedex Holders: Red, Blue, Green and Yellow since we already know for a fact that Red and Blue cameo in the World Tournament.

Yeah. I would prefer to use the game version of white. I have never read the pokemon manga with the game characters.  Glad you're okay with it. ^_^

Gender! XD Trainer goals? Like they wish to be a league champion, breeder, contest champion, ect. 

So are we going with pokemon can only know four moves?

Gender, DUH! *facepalm* HOW could we have missed that? (I basically copied this from another forum I had an RP going on that seems to have died) so that can go under "age" and... yeah, okay, Trainer Goals. that can go.... under Region/Hometown?

As for the Four Moves thing... I like it for the sake of keeping things simple, however both the anime AND manga show Pokemon breaking this "rule" so.... it's up to you I guess? What do you think?

I'm okay with either way. I remember when I played pokemon for the first time, I was upset that pokemon could only know four moves. 

We probably need the character's history as well?

I think the more attacks you have for each pokemon the harder it will be to keep track so let's say that up to 3 can know up to 6? how does that sound?

How about just a general cap of six for the sake of simplicity? So, minimum 4 (it'll be REALLY hard to battle in a tournament like this without a full moveset) maximum 6?

Okay, and Blue only has five Pokemon on hand in the manga (the rest are all kept in storage at the Gym) so how about Minimum Three Pokemon ("Tournemnts" battles are usually three on three, if you remember Pokemon Stadium/Colosseum/Battle Revolution) maximum six on hand?

I'm also thinking we should leave specific levels for each Pokemon out since I foresee it leading to quibbling, we'll just have to be on each other's honor to respond fairly in battle. Not have EVERY attacks missed/dodged, etc. so kinda the same as not being overpowered.

Okay, I've got a small blurb written out for the story and I'm currently working on the rules and another thought occurred to me: Legendaries.

Pretty much all of the manga characters have "befriended"/battled alongside at least one however none have actually been permanently captured so I say for the sake of fairness we just leave them out. They can (and likely WILL) become plot-points with the Shadow Pokemon, but none of us can keep them.
