Name: Shadi Surgens
Gender: Female
Race: Plant (Rose) Demon
Age: 1000+ years
Birthplace: The old world in what would become Yami's kingdom many, many years later.
Physical Appearance:
Shadi is 5'10" tall with long blonde hair that reaches halfway down her back and light blue eyes. She typically keeps her hair in a braid to keep it out of the way during work or out in public, but she's not above being lazy enough to wear it down on occasion. Of course, lazy is a relative term. She still spends a good amount of time making sure it looks good.
Shadi is usually seen in business attire even on casual dress days. She's very vain about her appearance and doesn't see the point in dressing down just to be comfortable. Most of the art department describes her as very stiff for an artist because of how seriously she seems to take looking professional.
Outside of work, Shadi tends to favor more elegant gowns or business casual dress with nice pants and shoes.
Personality:
Shadi is very vain in all every sense of the word. She always puts in the effort of looking good even on days when she's lax about her appearance (as mentioned). She's also easily angered when people insult or criticize her, and she will hold it against anyone who feels the need to do so.
Shadi is also very much like royalty in her attitude towards others. As a teacher and the Dean of the Arts, she comes off as being very serious and strict. Most of the art professors try to stay on her good side. She's a little more lax with Yami, mostly because she doesn't want him to quit and go somewhere else.
History:
Shadi is one of the only three people who never died (and thus weren't reborn) due to the curse. She was well-versed in dark magic and decided to try to save herself and her servant/lover, Sam, when people first started getting sick. Unfortunately she was only able to spare herself because her skills in dark magic did not transfer to white magic as well as she'd hoped. The loss took a lot out of her, and she ended up traveling for many year to try and distance herself from memories of her old life.
Her wandering only lasted a few years before she became restless and started keeping an eye out for reincarnations of people from the old world (particularly Yami and Kimiko). It was counterproductive to her original need to forget the past, but part of her just couldn't settle into a new life.
During her time searching, she took an interest in sculpture and graphic design, hoping to stumble upon Yami later because of his past self's love of art. She ended up spending more time on her art than she thought she would and decided to use the little money she'd earned (aka stole) to get a degree in graphic design. She planned on freelancing and continuing her travels once she graduated.
Her plans changed, however, when she was offered a job at a university in New York City. She finally gave up on finding anyone from the past and began working on her career. She worked her way up to Dean of Arts both with her skills and some mental manipulation the same year Yami entered the school.
Needless to say, she was surprised to Yami after all the time she spent looking. She kept her distance most of the time other than when she was teaching his class (afraid he'd remember her) and congratulated him in person when he graduated. She was more than happy to agree when the other professors wanted to hire him him as the new art professor.
Additional Information:
Shadi has a long history with the Ookami family of the old world. Her family used to rule the land that became Yami's kingdom after Kiba the first beat her and took over the throne.
Once defeated, she and her long time servant, Sam, escaped and she vowed to take the kingdom back from the Ookamis. Unfortunately, she never succeeded.
In the new world, she has no reason to hold a grudge against Yami's family and views destroying a bunch of humans that don't remember their past lives as a waste of effort. Plus, he gives her a connection to the past that she no longer wants to forget.
