Light bathed the northern part of the Void for the fourth consecutive rest period in a row and seemed to grow brighter every day.  What was it?  What did it want?  The small girl who sat upon the rim of a large crater ringed by broken stones had no answer for those questions.  Her pale skin was bathed with the dim golden light that came from the north... or was it the south?  She didn't know.

She picked up one of the black, obsidian-like rocks and smiled at it.  It was large and triangular in shape, it would have made a good spear head.  She picked up another rock, more elongated and slender, perhaps the blade of a knife?  She waved them around and imagined they were a Red Queen and an Other in the midst of mortal battle.  As she waved them over her head she eventually fell backward and the chain on her back clattered against the smooth, glassy plain of the Void.

Her blue-violet eyes picked out a point of golden light in the air, something that seemed to hover below the roiling chaos rather than penetrate it.  As she watched it, it grew in size but not in brightness, becoming a ring.  Through the ring she could see various things she'd never seen before, unfamiliar colours and shapes.  Something was thrown through it then the portal slammed shut with a crack of thunder so sharp it made her ears hurt.

Her rocks forgotten, the small girl began to scamper toward the object's landing place on all fours, her humanoid body affording her something of a hopping motion akin to a frog.  When she got close, perhaps within ten paces or so, she settled against the ground, her black garb affording her camouflage against the black ground so she could simply observe.

When the gate opened, its ornate design and edges shimmered gold and the portal's blue surface rippled now and again as it overlooked the shinto shrine in Tokyo, Japan.  Just after the group of six girls calmly stepped into it, the portal's surface turned to transparent spikes and the ornate rim turned blue.

You are the only ones who can stop the evil!

It had been five years since the group known as the Sailor Guardians had been seen in 20th Century Tokyo, but much had changed in that time. After defeating Sailor Galaxia the five Sailor Guardians slowly become scattered during their High School years in their pursuit of their individual dreams. 

Usagi had decided to join Mamoru as he completed his own studies in America and the two would be married once Usagi graduated, promising to invite all of their friends to the wedding. Ami was allowed to graduate early and traveled to Germany to further her medical studies. Rei remained at the Hino Shrine but now served as its owner allowing her grandfather to retire. Makoto opened a greenhouse and garden shop after finally meeting the man of her dreams while Minako was at last able to become a top-selling idol but still worked hard to finish her studies by mail while touring.

The world was at peace, but its vulnerability to any potential new threats was still a concern to Luna and Artemis in the Silver Millenium. The two agreed that a new group of Sailor Guardians would be needed to protect the Earth and without any hesitation, the future Queen's daughter volunteered.

During this time, the young princess had become a lady in her own right, but she wouldn't be alone. Joining her would be her good friend Sailor Saturn along with the four soldiers of the Asteroid Belt, formerly the Amazoness Quartet. They would even have Luna and Artemis' own daughter, Diana to guide them.

Sailor Pluto allowed the princess to use one of her Space-time Keys and the new group of Sailor Guardians prepared to depart for the Hikawa Shrine in 20th Century Tokyo. Sailor Saturn and the four Asteroid Senshi joined hands to form a circle around the princess and she held up the key. 

"Guardian of time! Tear apart the heavens and open wide for me the Door of Space and Time! I summon thee by your true name; Omnipotent God of Time, Father of the Guardian, Chronos! Guide us on our journey! Protect these travelers! Grant us the Path of Light!"

The sky grew dark and a pink light enveloped all of them and extended upward to form a path, but as the group was lifted off the ground something went wrong. There was a strange pull that caused each of the Sailor Guardians to flinch. Then another, this time more pronounced and accompanied by a strange voice.

"You are the only ones who can stop the evil!" 

"W-what is this?" The princess thought, but before she could even vocalize her question there was a third pull that was stronger than ever, causing her to finally lose focus on the Space-time Key and the rest of the group to lose their grip on each other as they were sent completely off course.

The girl laid on her stomach for some time to observe the newcomer.  She wore the colours of a Red Queen; pink, white, and red, but there was gold as well... why did she have gold?  She propped her head up on her hands and elbows and watched for a few moments longer before she decided to move closer.  Given the Void's flat plain was smooth and glass, she scooted forward on her belly like some form of strange serpent until she was within arm's reach of the newcomer.

She was dressed so strangely... her clothing was shimmery and seemed to bob lightly in the magical waves that washed over the Void from the invasion of light.  Speaking of magic, the newcomer smelled so strongly of it... it was intoxicating.  The spike on her upper back extended on a length of chain that rattled in silence of the Void and the three-sided spike inched toward the newcomer.

Thin lines of light crossed over the apex of each face and it opened into a trifoil blade that held a swirling orb of darkness in its midst.  White vapour began to rise from the newcomer and disappear into the orb.  It slowly changed colour from deep violet to shimmering gold and once it did, the trifoil blade closed with the sound of a rusty gate being slammed shut.  It quickly retracted back into its housing on the Voidling's back and made the small girl jolt.

She flexed her back and stretched out with her backside up in the air like a cat.  "Wrawwwwwwwwr!"  she groaned.  Energy surged through her body and once it had run its course, her blue-violet eyes and nail polish were replaced with shimmering gold.  The Voidling looked down at the reflective black surface of the Void and hissed at the pair of gold eyes that stared back at her.

Stars exploded into her vision when she tried to attack her reflection and slammed face-first into the ground.

It was still a few moments before the newcomer showed any signs of life, but eventually she opened her eyes. The sight of the unfamiliar sky was enough of a shock to cause her to sit straight up, but the sudden motion was followed by a sudden sharp pain in her head that made her wince. She let out a soft groan as he put her hands to her head, but why did she feel so weak?

Another quick glance around at the pink-haired stranger's surroundings was all it took to tell her that something was wrong. She was neither in Crystal Tokyo nor in 20th Century Tokyo.

"What is this place?" She mumbled before the memory came back to her in a sudden flash. The rest of her team had been with her, but something had managed to separate them in mid transport.

As the princess continued to scan her surroundings she could see a strange silhouette not to far away from her, but this new world was too dark to make it out properly. It seemed almost human in size and shape, but its posture was more like a feline.

"Diana?" she asked and she crawled on her hands and knees to make her way towards the figure, but the closer she got the more apparent it became that the Voidling was not her feline guardian.

The Voidling's mind was slow to clear but once the ringing inside her head began to subside she became aware of sounds once more, new sounds at that.  The first was faint, almost indistinguishable from the lingering noise in her head.  The second, however, was much closer and clearer.

"Diana?"

The voice was unfamiliar to her, but she turned to face its source; the newcomer had awoken and come closer!  The Voidling was immediately on her guard and took up an aggressive stance.  With her hands and feet on the ground and her bottom up in the air, she looked a tad silly, but her scorpion tail spike was extended and was poised to strike.

Was the newcomer dangerous?  The Voidling had drained a substantial amount of magic from her, but the pink-haired girl seemed to have a limitless well of power at her disposal.  Was she like a Red Queen?  Was she like caster-type Voidlings?  Where did her magic come from?

"Not Diana!  Seraset!"  she hissed.  Her lips curled back and showed her mouth was filled with rows of sharp teeth not unlike a shark's.  "Who you!?"  she demanded.  Golden lightning flashed in the distance and a wave of magical thunder crackled clear as day despite having travelled many miles to reach them.

The pink-haired stranger let out a loud gasp once she had gotten a good look at the Voidling. Clearly, this was not the friend she had been looking for. Even worse, who or whatever this was, they appeared as though they might be dangerous. She couldn't be sure of its function, but the sight of what appeared to be a scorpion's tail paired with the creature's defensive stance was enough to make her jump back.

"S-Seraset?" she repeated upon hearing the Voidlings name. Their language sounded a little strange, but it was at least they would be able to communicate with each other. Hopefully, it also meant that this being could be reasoned with and that she would be able to show them she was not a threat.

"I... I am Small Lady, Serenity. Daughter of Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion and Crown Princess of the Silver Millennium," she said, introducing herself in the formal manner she had been taught to use when outside of the Kingdom.

"I don't mean any harm, but I'm lost," Small Lady explained, having finally finding her voice and regaining her confidence.

"I was traveling with six of my friends, but we somehow became separated and I ended up here," she continued.

"Please tell me, what is this place? Where am I?"
